Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Assistant
Position Overview:
The Australian Psychedelic Society (APS) is excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team as a Social Media Assistant. This volunteer position offers a unique chance to contribute to our mission of promoting responsible psychedelic use and awareness.Responsibilities:
Manage Assist the Social media Manager with multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube.Ability to adhere to our current branding and able to take initiative.
Create engaging and appropriate content using tools like Canva.
Collaborate closely with the Website Managers, and a team of digital media volunteers.
Participate in regular meetings to strategise and align social media efforts with APS goals.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and implementing new social media strategies.
Maintain consistent communication via email and Slack to coordinate content and campaigns.
Assist in Publishing, edit, and effectively market content to expand APS’s reach and impact.
Show interest in and basic knowledge of psychedelics, aligning messaging with APS values.

Volunteer Treasurer
Australian Psychedelic Society (APS)The Australian Psychedelic Society (APS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Treasurer to join our committee. This voluntary role is an integral part of our governance structure, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our not-for-profit organisation.
About Us:
APS advocates for the safe, responsible, and informed use of psychedelics for mental health, personal growth, and well-being. As a volunteer-run organisation, we focus on education, harm reduction, and community engagement.Role Overview:
As Treasurer, you will oversee the financial operations of APS, maintain accurate records, and help develop strategies to ensure financial sustainability. This includes working with Xero accounting software, contributing to fundraising strategies, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and not-for-profit laws. Training will be provided to support your success in this role.Responsibilities:
Provide financial advice to the committee to support effective decision-making.
Administer the organisation’s financial affairs, including budgeting and forecasting.
Develop and review financial policies and procedures in collaboration with the committee.
Oversee and approve expenditure over $300.
Support team leads in managing income and ensuring all monies received are banked.
Prepare an annual Treasurer’s Report for the AGM and assist with audits if required.
Process payments, reconcile accounts, and ensure records align with bank statements.
Act as a signatory on the organisation’s bank account.
Identify and communicate any financial risks or issues to the committee.
Commitment:
A few volunteer hours per week to manage the organisation’s financial needs.
Attendance at quarterly committee meetings (held every three months).
Annual participation in the AGM, including preparation of a financial report.
Desired Attributes:
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Financial expertise and experience using Xero (or similar software).
Familiarity with not-for-profit financial management and laws.
Creativity and enthusiasm for fundraising and financial strategy development.
Trustworthiness, honesty, and strong communication skills.
