Updates on 2025 at the APS with our VP-Jess

Dear APS Community,
Happy Holidays and wishing you all the very safest, cosiest and psychedelic new year!

My name is Jess, and I am the Vice President of the Australian Psychedelic Society (APS). I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this vibrant organisation and its amazing network of dedicated volunteers.

I began my journey with APS in 2019 as a co-lead for the Goldfields group in Victoria. Over time, I stepped into the role of National Chapter Coordinator, and at our last AGM in September, I was deeply honoured to be voted in as Vice President.

As part of my role, I oversee our incredible groups and chapters across Australia. This has been an amazing way to connect with our community while embracing my responsibilities within APS. Our chapters and groups host integration circles, casual meet-ups (both in-person and online), film screenings, panel discussions, and educational sessions on psychedelic treatments and harm reduction. We are a welcoming community, open to all—whether you’re a seasoned advocate or just curious about psychedelics.

If you’d like to get involved or see a gap you’d like to fill in our space, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m more than happy to help connect you to a group near you.

Join our National Executive Committee

We’re currently looking for a volunteer Treasurer to join our committee. This vital role is central to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of APS. If you have a background in financial management or not-for-profit law and are familiar with tools like Xero, we’d love to hear from you. Training will be provided, and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse organisation dedicated to safe and responsible psychedelic use in Australia. This is a great chance to help develop fundraising strategies and make an impact on the growing psychedelic movement. Please check out the full details here, or contact us directly for more information!

Exciting Updates for 2025

We’re excited to share some updates that will keep our community connected and engaged:

  • New Newsletter Format: Starting in 2025, we’re launching a quarterly national newsletter to provide in-depth updates, a monthly event calendar to keep you informed about upcoming activities, and an internal volunteer newsletter to support our team.
->Sign up here for updates in 2025!

  • Volunteer Hub Launch: In February 2025, we’ll unveil a dedicated Volunteer Hub on our website. This will be a one-stop resource for our volunteers and Committee members templates, policy documents, event planning procedures, training materials, and more. This allows more transparency and organisational cohesion.

  • APS Strategy Day: Our committee is planning the 2024-27 Strategy Day to review our goals, align our efforts, and plan for the future. This organisation exists for you, the community, and your input is invaluable. We’d love to hear your thoughts, so please take a few minutes to fill out the survey linked here or via the form below. Your feedback is crucial in helping us better serve and support our community.

Reflecting on 2024 and Looking Ahead into 2025

As we take a short break over December, I want to thank all of you for your incredible support and dedication to the Australian Psychedelic Society. We will continue many of the regular events, we are excited to see what this year brings after such an eventful year for psychedelics.
The energy and commitment of our volunteers have been the driving force behind our events, initiatives, and the growing presence of APS.

I also want to extend heartfelt gratitude to our President, Antanika Hoberg, for her tireless work and unwavering dedication to supporting myself in this role and the community the way she does. Antanika, you are the heart and soul of APS, and your efforts inspire so many within this community.

Happy Holidays,

Jess Maude
