APS Perth - Psychedelic Integration Circle

  • Nature of Self Yoga 142-144 Railway Street Cottesloe, WA, 6010 Australia (map)

The APS (Perth) is excited to invite you to our first psychedelic integration circle of 2022. More than that - we are excited to be hosting this event at 'Nature of Self Yoga', a beautiful studio in Cottesloe that will be a supportive space for us. Moving forward - our hope is to host an integration circle every fortnight with the intention to build community through a strengthening commitment and consistency to these circles. Our intention is to create a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment for anyone seeking to integrate a past experience, or learn more before they participate in one in the future. We hope to support you to make sense of challenging experiences, to share a meaningful experience with like-minded people, and to connect with the local community.

We acknowledge that recreational use of psychedelics continues despite a long history of criminalisation. The group does not encourage or condone recreational use but we do provide harm minimisation support and psycho-education to those who make their own choice to do this. The circle will focus on learning tools and techniques to work through experiences in a structured way, guiding members through a process of reflection and action.

We are very grateful to Steven Alyian and Priya Leevers for offering to facilitate. They have a wealth of experience running groups, and are knowledgeable, intelligent and passionate about this thriving culture of psychedelics we find ourselves in. There will also be members of the APS who are trained mental health practitioners present and participating in the group (but not facilitating).

Steven Alyian is a musician and multidisciplinary artist whose endeavours include film-making, performance and community development. Steven composes and performs music with a variety of projects that have toured around the globe and now regularly exhibits artworks at international exhibitions and galleries. He plays many instruments including guitar, hand-pan, flute and didgeridoo, and has been trained in the use of sound therapy tools focusing on meditation through listening practices with overtone-rich instruments. Steven believes that sound is the most powerful tool in the quieting of the mind, fusion of self-empowerment and the unlocking of our greatest potential as human beings.

Priya Leevers is a professional yoga and meditation teacher with a background in embodiment work with The International School of Temple Arts. Priya has been holding regular classes, sacred circles and retreats at studios and festivals in Australia and New Zealand since 2014. She believes in celebrating the divine within us all through community, creativity, ritual and by slowing down and listening to our inner knowing. Priya's unique events feel welcoming and supportive, allowing attendees to feel empowered to integrate the shadow with love, and develop their own unique, authentic expression in life and love.
